Since Jack is still working on his English, this will be a good place to hang out with no translator required. For those that don't know, Jack speaks fluent hillbilly but writes a little better. However, If you run across an L.I.B. while here, you all know that means "well I'll be" where Jack is from. S.M.R. means "yes them are" and so on. Jack has some of his own clichés also. "Well bust my britches!" is equivalent to "Jeepers! I did not know that!" "Like a fat kid on a pork chop" could be considered a firm confirmation that the proposed action will be taken. "Some Beach" means, well, never mind. Be nice to Jack and he will be nice to you. If you ever have trouble understanding something here, let us know and we will translate for you.


TO VENT OR NOT TO VENT? THERE IS NO QUESTION!

If consumers knew how many unvented gas fireplaces we have ripped out of homes to replace with a high-efficiency direct vent model, they would get a clue of how bad vent-free fireplaces really are!

Vent-Free fireplaces imply that since there is no chimney required by law that there must be no emissions. WRONG! By law, vent-free gas appliances are allowed to leave the manufacturer with 5ppm of carbon monoxide KNOWINGLY being produced by the appliance! THAT'S DISGUSTING in my opinion. Why would anyone, willfully and knowingly pay to add a source of pollution to their home? Sounds crazy but that's exactly what people do every day.

If you are considering heating with a vent-free gas appliance, you really should reconsider. You will endanger your health by living with low-level toxins for extended periods. You are creating a high risk of catastrophic damage to your home and health. Vent-free appliances can suddenly malfunction and cause instantaneous damage to your home resulting in tens of thousands of dollars in damage. What's worse is that if it is determined that the damage was caused by a vent-free appliance, your insurance company may have a right not to pay to repair the damage! Better ask before it's too late!

What about aesthetics? There's no comparison between the flame of a vented gas fireplace and an unvented one. Vented appliances offer the most realistic fire that can sometimes fool you and will certainly fool your guests!

If you want to hear the truth and not a sales pitch, come to Black Mountain. If someone has told you Vent-Free is ok for your house, THEY DON'T KNOW JACK.
